ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) is a method which allows achieving fertilization and pregnancy, even in the most severe male infertility cases.
This procedure is suggested in cases where ejaculate contains an insufficient number of sperms or many pathological sperms, in case of low sperm motility, if the sperms were obtained by TESA/MESA method, or in the presence of antispermal antibodies. ICSI is also performed if a small number of eggs have been obtained from a woman or the previous IVF attempts were unsuccessful.
ICSI procedure is performed in the embryology laboratory, where under the microscope a selected good quality sperm is injected into the cytoplasm of a mature egg with help of micromanipulators.
ICSI method has allowed many women to experience the joy of motherhood.
